Hello all! We begin a new season with our favorite Parks and Rec gang. As we all know Leslie is planning to run for city council, but is conflicted about her relationship with Ben. Meanwhile, Ron moves to the forest to escape his crazy ex-wife Tammy.
Fast forward to three weeks later, we find the women in the office being sent pictures of a man’s genitals. This leads the staff to investigate this crude act, and find out it was Joe from sewage who sent the inappropriate photos.
Ann tells Chris that the man from the photo looks like he has mumps, this leads Chris to tell everyone, prompting multiple men to send photos of their private parts to Ann. Talk about unwanted penis pics, I felt so bad for Ann that her
phone was blowing up with those images. I know I’ve had friends who
have received quite explicit photos from men, and let me tell you they are not pretty.
However, Ann handled the situation quite calmly whereas if I
was her, I would go crazy and yell at the room full of men to stop sending me photos of their junks.
Being impressed by how Leslie caught the culprit in charge
of the photos, the scouts decide to have Leslie announce her candidacy that
following Friday rather than in three months. While this is all going on, Ben
is trying to give a gift to Leslie, but she's too scared to face him and tell him the truth so she flees to Ron's cabin.
Even though the show is a comedy, it offers me a lot of
insightful advice. When Leslie was with Ron, he told her that they couldn’t just
run away from their problems and eventually they have to face them. I liked
this advice, because I’ve always been someone who's afraid of confrontation. However,
if I keep avoiding problems and running away from things the situation will only get
worse and larger. So, advice like this makes me question my decisions and learn to be more upfront with people.
When Leslie and Ron get back, Leslie finally meets Ben for
dinner and knows she has to break up with him. However, Ben surprises Leslie
with a campaign button saying “Knope 2012” on it. He figured from the way she
was acting, that Leslie was offered to run for office. At this point they break up and later on Leslie announces her candidacy for city council.
Oh my god let me tell you, this was so hard for me to see.
When they parted ways with each other, and Leslie started crying I was like, “no
Joshua don’t do it, don’t cry.” To see two people, who I truly admired and
loved seeing together break ties with each other, hurt me a lot. However, I
know that this can’t be the end to Beslie, that‘s right I made up a couple name
because I know for a fact they’re going to be together forever.
